I didn't pay attention to the title until I've heard that it won numerous Oscar awards. Then I started reading the book and simply couldn't put it down. The last time that happened was when I was flipping through "The Kite Runner".

But the movie turned out to be so different from the novel itself. At the very least I couldn't imagine the name of the protagonist isn't the same anymore. Without the feature from his name "Ram Mohammad Thomas", there could be at least 2 to 3 chapters from the book either being rewritten or totally stripped away because it links so closely to his name. Jamal is good, though, but less lively.

I mean, both of them are excellent in their field. Now I guess I know why Danny Boyle was given the award.
